Anyone know any great poems or short stories?

I am doing a project in American Literature and I need a good short story or poem that is more than 8 stanzas long. I could Google "great short stories and poems" but I figured I would ask my fellow yahoo-goers! =) hope you send some good links or names of poems and short stories. I don't care if you have just one or if you have 20! sending them all my way would be great! Also, I need them to be written between 1865 and now, if you don't know just sent it anyways and I will figure it out. THANKS SO MUCH!
