Does anybody know the right thing to do? When your ex contacts you..?

I am in my mid 20's and my ex (who is 26) brokeup with me yesterday. She gave the excuse that things were just so intense so fast and so much intimacy. We had a beautiful relationship for seven months....the last month she has been hot and cold. She already texted me today and wants to bring over something I left at her place (bathing suit). I have not responded because I do love her and want to get back together....but I want more respect. How do I handle this? Does anybody have any good insight into relationships that knows? I was too needy which is what I believe led to her breaking up...now I need to demonstrate the opposite. Advice? SHould I text her back? Make her wait?
